From
Story to Screen
(either 8 weeks, 4 weeks or evenings)
Do you want to learn how to write, direct and edit
on the best available short course in the UK? Developed
in partnership with the National Film and Television
School, From Story to Screen has been designed to provide
aspiring writers, directors and producers with practical,
hands-on experience in all aspects of narrative filmmaking.
Furthermore, any good film made on the course has the
opportunity for distribution through our partner City
Screen, owner of the largest art house cinema group
in the UK. No previous filmmaking experience is required.
From Story to Screen is taught by industry professionals
who are as passionate about teaching as they are about
film. But don’t expect to sit still. Most of the
time you will “learn by doing” in a series
of modules broken down into carefully-designed practical
workshops. Each workshop builds upon your previous experience,
and you will quickly realise that your mistakes are
as important as your successes.
The full course lasts eight weeks fulltime and contains
the four core modules of Scriptwriting, Camera and Sound,
Editing and Working with Actors. There are also two
additional modules which provide you with expert support
to help you make a professional-quality film: Script
Development and Professional Production.
Alternatively you can take the four core modules of
Screenwriting, Camera and Sound, Editing and Working
with Actors fulltime over four weeks or alternatively
three evenings a week over ten weeks. You will still
have the opportunity to develop and make a short film
but with the assistance of other students in your class.
If you decide to take the four week or evening course
you can always return at a later date to make a professionally-supported
film by taking the Script Development and Professional
Production modules.
Testimonial: 'I had the time of
my life. Years I'd waited to find an infrastructure
where I could indulge my passion for film under
the supervision of pros - an arena so sadly lacking
in this country. Thanks to you and your team, and
I look forward to staying in touch with you guys
and the friends I made on the course. I have no
doubt that the Metropolitan Film School will go
from strength to strength, and deservedly so.' David
